A MUM who died in a house fire in Old Craighall told rescuers she had been decorating a wreath when the blaze broke out.

Roseanne Armstrong, 43, a mother-of-eight, died after suffering serious burns in the blaze which  broke out at the flat she was sharing with her pensioner parents Bobby and Margaret Rose Rowan.

She told firefighters who treated her at the scene, she had been decorating the wreath using an aerosol when a lit cigarette sparked an explosion.

Police Scotland are still investigating the blaze and are said to have found up to ten aerosol cans in the room where fire broke out.

Tributes to Ms Armstrong flooded social media as news of her death spread this week.

Her eldest son Edward said his mum had moved in with her parents to help care for them.

He added: "My mother donated her life for her mother and father, not a woman alive that could take her place."

Neighbours told of how they were woken by the sound of a series of loud bangs and found the flat alight.

Some revealed how they witnessed Ms Armstrong being helped from the house, still conscious, but badly burned.

Her father Bobby, 77, and mum Margaret-Rose, 76, are being treated for their injuries in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The fire happened around 2.30am on Sunday and fire crews were quickly on the scene.
Brave Roseanne had already gone back into the flat twice pulling her parents to safety. Fire crews administered emergency treatment as they waited for ambulances to arrived.
Ms Armstrong, 43, was taken to St Johns Hospital, Livingston, but did not survive her injuries.

A joint investigation between Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland is taking place to establish the cause of the fire.
The ground floor flat's windows were boarded up as investigations continued into the circumstances behind the blaze.
Bouquets of flowers had been tied to the garden fence.
East Lothian Council confirmed the address was one of their residences.
A spokesperson said: "There is little we can say about the fire at the moment as it is the subject of an ongoing police investigation.
