TEENAGE singer Rebecca Traynor received a standing ovation from judges, including former X-Factor veteran Louis Walsh as she took second place at a UK-wide singing contest.
Rebecca, 18, from Musselburgh, beat hundreds of finalists to take to runner-up spot in the Talent Fest UK competition in Blackpool at the weekend.
The classically -trained singer performed Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro, from Madam Butterfly, and had all five of the judges on their feet at the end.
Delighted Rebecca said: "Afterwards I spoke to Louis Walsh and he said it was the best performance he had ever heard from a classical singer. I was absolutely thrilled."
Rebecca, Edenhall Bank, won Edinburgh's Got Talent in 2012 and has been taking part in singing contests and performing ever since.
The former Musselburgh Grammar School student s focussing in her music career full time and has a busy schedule, next weekend she will compete in the final of the Battle of the Bands in Musselburgh, with the top prize of performing at a star-studded concert as part of next year's Riding of the Marches in the town.
And she has her fingers crossed for a call after scouts from Britain's Got Talent attended the Blackpool contest, where Louis Walsh was heard telling them to "watch this girl", pointing to Rebecca.
She said: "I had such an incredible experience in Blackpool and now it is a waiting game to see if I get a call. I was the only performer to receive a standing ovation. All the judges were on their feet so I just have to wait and see."
