Tributes have been paid to Tranent man Andrew Gordon after his body was discovered four days after he disappeared while swimming on holiday.

Mr Gordon's daughter Caroline took to social media site Facebook to thank wellwishers who had sent messages of support as the search for her dad was carried out.

She said: "It has been overwhelming and really comforting to know that everyone has been thinking of us all. I can't wait to get my dad home and we can say our goodbyes."

Mr Gordon lived in Tranent with partner Angela and had three daughters.

He was on holiday on the Isle of Skye at the weekend, where he was taking part in the Shoot The Goose motorcycle rally, with Angela when he disappeared.

The 54-year-old went for a swim under the Skye bridge on Sunday morning and did not return.

His body was found in the Erbusaig area of Kyle of Lochalsh at around midday yesterday (Thu).

Mr Gordon, who worked for himself was originally from Ormiston, where he grew up on Whitehouse Mill Farm.

Fa'side ward Councillor Jim Gillies, from Ormiston, knew Mr Gordon and paid a personal tribute to him today.

Councillor Gillies said: "It is just such a shame - he was such a nice guy, and I really feel for Angela and the family. They were just a really nice couple. It was just so sad."

Mr Gordon's daughter Sharon runs Hair Couture, in Hardgate, Haddington.

She apologised to customers for closing the salon this week due to family circumstances.
