DUNBAR newsagent John Gilmour went that extra mile following a gruelling charity cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh - by getting back on his bike and pedalling 30-miles home!
The 29-year-old wheel nut had completed the 'Pedal for Scotland' 50-mile cycle challenge in little over three hours when pal and training partner Richard Morgan convinced him to keep going.
"I crossed the line and rested for an hour before Richard said that maybe we should cycle home," said Mr Gilmour, who works in family-run Knox Newsagents. "I was pretty sore on the way back, worse than the race itself!" John, of Runciman Court, was one of 7,000 cyclists to race from Glasgow Green to Victoria Park, Edinburgh last month in aid of Maggie's Cancer Care (see picture left).
So far he has raised more than £500 from the feat - though the cyclist hasn't yet, we're told, offered to help any of his paper boys complete their rounds in double-quick time!
