A DOLLAR Academy pupil struck up a relationship with his namesake after a class project on the subject of their favourite artist.

Jack Graham (P3L) got in touch with eight-year-old Jack Henderson who has been drawing pictures since he was six to raise money for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

The young artist takes requests for pictures with the only condition that "clients" make a donation to the charity that supports the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

He began the fundraising initiative, Jack Draws Anything, with its own website, to raise money for the hospital where his little brother, Noah, received treatment.

Dollar Academy's Jack Graham learned about the artist, whose family now live in California, through his mother.

In an email to him, Jack wrote, "I would really love to tell my friends all about you . . . if you had time, could you please draw a picture for my project that I could raffle or auction for the Sick Kids hospital?" The creative youngster obliged with a colourful take on the Hillfoots' secondary school.

Dollar pupil Jack told the Advertiser, '"I really like how Jack raised money for his brother's hospital and how he draws his pictures very quickly. I also really liked the special picture of Dollar Academy that Jack drew just for me." A spokesperson for Dollar Academy said, "Dollar Academy is delighted to have been able to contribute to Jack's remarkable campaign.
