GALA season is well and truly upon East Lothian with the county a gala-lovers’ paradise tomorrow (Saturday).

In East Linton, there is Highland dancing in Memorial Park at noon before the parade gets under way at 1pm.

The parade, led by a pipe band, moves off along Bridge Street, High Street and School Road before heading into Memorial Park.

At 1.30pm, Lorel Hawthorn-Buchanan will be crowned Gala Queen on the main stage by Katy Bath, nee Katy McDougall, who was Queen in 1998.

Stalls, selling a variety of foods, will be open throughout the afternoon, with bouncy castles and other attractions on offer.

The tug of war gets under way at 2pm and anyone wanting to take part should contact mark1personaltraining@ya hoo.co.uk with live music at 3pm and the start of the Law Race at the same time.

Meanwhile, Cockenzie and Port Seton Gala Day sees the parade leaving the Port Seton Centre at 11.45am tomorrow, eventually making its way to Cockenzie Harbour for 1pm, where Seton Queen Holly Macari and her court will board the Royal Barge and head for Port Seton Harbour.

The crowning ceremony takes place at 2.30pm, while there’s a day of fun at George V Playing Fields from noon to 5pm.

Longniddry Gala also takes place tomorrow, with the gala parade leaving the park at 11.30am, with the main events of gala day taking place in the park from 12.30pm.

A host of activities and entertainment are on offer, including mums’ and dads’ races, kids’ races, a wheel of fortune and stalls.

Tomorrow also sees Musselburgh Gala Day take place at Fisherrow Links (noon-4pm). Giant inflatables, face painting, paintballing, fair rides and a fun bus trip are all on offer, as are the ever-popular quad bikes, while there will also be dance displays and a pipe band.

While, later in the day (6pm) see Tranent Gala’s Grand Parade take place.
