THERE is comedy, theatre and film on offer this week at The Brunton.

The Musselburgh venue has lined up an action-packed week, with plenty to entertain county audiences.

Kicking things off is East Kilbride-born comedian Craig Hill.

The multi-award-winning kilted comedian comes to the Garden County hot on the heels of last year’s hysterically funny, sold-out national tour.

Comedy-lovers are encouraged to book early for this deliciously wicked and gloriously camp evening of no-holds-barred comedy and pure, unadulterated fun.

He takes to the stage at Venue 1 tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm.

Alternatively, The MGA Academy of Performing Arts’ second-year musical theatre students are delighted to be performing Thornton Wilder’s iconic ‘Our Town’.

Our Town tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover’s Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens.

This deceptively simple story exposes the stark truth of human existence as two people fall in love, marry, and live out their lives as a small American town becomes an allegory for everyday life.

The action takes place at the theatre both today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday), with showings at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Then, film fans are in for a treat in Venue 1 when Mr Turner takes to the big screen at 7.30pm on Wednesday evening.

Director Mike Leigh offers up an exploration of the last quarter century of the great, if eccentric, British painter J.M.W. Turner’s life.

The 2014 film stars Timothy Spall, Paul Jesson and Dorothy Atkinson alongside Marion Bailey and Karl Johnson.

Finally, next Thursday night (January 29) at 7.30pm in Venue 1 there is a chance to see Royal Opera House Live Cinema Season: Andrea Chenier.

David McVicar directs a new production of Umberto Giordano’s passionate drama of liberty and love in the French Revolution, starring Jonas Kaufmann and Eva-Maria Westbroek, conducted by Antonio Pappano.
