IT IS A NEW year but there is still plenty of fun to be had at The Brunton in Musselburgh.

The venue is building up to another memorable year and the 2015 programme is already under way.

Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association (MAMA) were set to get things started tonight (Thursday) with their annual revue, a fantastic selection of musical entertainment and comedy.

That continues on Friday at 7.30pm in the theatre, as well as a matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday. The revue is packed with an array of your favourite songs from hit Broadway and West End Musicals, such as The Lion King and Rent.

Some of Disney’s greatest hits also feature, including songs from smash hit movies such as Frozen and Aladdin. Overall, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Meanwhile, next Thursday (January 22) at The Brunton there is a live broadcast, from London, of the National Theatre’s performance of Treasure Island.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s story of murder, money and mutiny is being brought to life in a thrilling new stage adaptation by Bryony Lavery.

It’s a dark, stormy night. The stars are out. Jim, the innkeeper’s granddaughter, opens the door to a terrifying stranger. At the old sailor’s feet sits a huge sea chest, full of secrets. Jim invites him in – and her dangerous voyage begins.

The live broadcast of the show gets under way at 7pm in Venue 1 and it is recommended for ages 10-plus.
