VOLUNTEERS are being invited to join Musselburgh District Angling Association as it organises a riverbank clean up along the River Esk.

The community project, which is being run along with East Lothian Council will see people helping to clear litter and debris from the banks between 10am and 2pm.

Tesco has offered to provide food and refreshments for the volunteers who will help enhance the riverbanks for everyone who use them.

Anyone who wants to get involved can go to the meeting point at the Job Centre car park for 10am.

A spokesperson for the association said: “We are trying to make this a community project for the benefit of walkers, bird and wildlife watchers or families who enjoy walking the River Esk rather than just for anglers so it is open to anyone who wishes to participate.”
