Outstanding talent on display at showcase
Please through your columns can say just how good Sunday’s ‘band showcase’ on the Links in Musselburgh was.
It was great to see families turn out for this event, with many enjoying picnics.
The talent on show was outstanding, with performers from Musselburgh and surrounding area, and impromptu performances from Italians and French revellers making it a truly international event!
Musselburgh on the Fringes has been a great festival and it can only go from strength to strength, hopefully with further sponsorship in the future.
It was a pleasure to be asked to compare this event for Musselburgh and Inveresk Community Council who organised the whole spectacle.
Lots of time and effort has been spent by Alan Hay, Irene Tait and many others who contributed to this festival.
Maybe local businesses can see that the community council is trying to get people to visit Musselburgh, and these businesses can come forward and help Musselburgh on the Fringes become an even greater success.
Next year, we could even see these events appear in the official Edinburgh Fringe programme.
People say they did not know about the ‘band showcase’ but it has appeared on banners, posters, leaflets, radio and press. I am sure the community council will take on board any suggestions to help organise future events.
Every performer did Musselburgh proud and it had a great summer festival feel, well done!
