Haddington Athletic 3 v 1 Dalkeith Thistle

HADDINGTON went ahead after six minutes when Grant took advantage of a poor clearance by the Dalkeith keeper.

Over the course of the first half, the Hi Hi could have extended their lead on several occasions. But they were unable to convert their overall superiority into goals.

Centre forward Fisher had Dalkeith"s best openings. He twice found the goal in his sights inside the home penalty area. But Andrew Stobie and his defenders did what was required to keep a clean-sheet in the first half.

Early in the second period, Dalkeith were given a boost when Fisher scored from the penalty spot after Robert Greenaway had fouled MacDonald in the box.

But parity lasted just eight minutes. Haddington were awarded a free kick 25 yards out after Jackie Myles was bundled over.

Alex Finlayson stepped up to send a perfectly-executed shot past the helpless Kesson.

Chances for a third goal came and went and, as the game wore on, Dalkeith also looked capable of an equaliser.

However, deep into injury time, Haddington sealed the win. Davie Anderson scored from close-range after rounding the keeper after collecting a pass from sub Brian Martin.
