Downfield 1 v 1 Dunbar United (Dunbar win 4-5 on pens)

Dunbar left back Josh Hebdon was brought down in the Downfield penalty after 30 minutes and Steven Girdwood struck home the spot kick.

The home side had a sense of grievance at what they saw as a soft award.

Five minutes from the break, the best move of the first half resulted in Downfield equalising through a Donaldson header. The scores remained level at the break.

Chances were few and far between in the second period. But with 17 minutes left, a Downfield header came off the underside of the bar.

A handball in the opposition penalty area brought a premature end to Robertson’s afternoon, and Downfield went on to spurn several great openings against the ten-man visitors before the final whistle.

The home side had Ferrie sent off at the end for a second booking, before the match was decided in a penalty shoot-out.

Johnstone saved Downfield’s second spot kick as Dunbar successfully converted all five of theirs –  new man Easter netted the decisive spot-kick.
