Winsor girls lift title after win in Perth
Musselburgh Windsor were crowned under-17 girls’ league champions after a thrilling performance against St Johnstone in Perth.
The two clubs had met the previous week in Musselburgh when the Windsor girls came out on top.
That victory left them knowing that a win in Perth would see the the title go back to Musselburgh.
The breakthrough for the visitors came in the 20th minute, when Danijela Rae sent over a cross to the edge of the six yard box and Kelsey Campbell rose above everyone else to send a fine header beyond the Saints’ keeper.
Having taken the lead, there was no letting up from Windsor as they went in search of a second.
Despite missing some good chances, the second goal arrived with five minutes of the first half remaining.
Kim Borthwick collected the ball deep in her own half, before sending a superb through-ball into the path of Lynsay Anderson. She ran from 40 yards out to the edge of the penalty box, before unleashing a shot that beat the keeper low at the near post.
St Johnstone scored a consolation goal from a penalty awarded for handball.
