Haddington Athletic 1 v 4 Linlithgow Rose

With a place in the quarter-finals at stake, Davie Anderson gave Haddington a shock lead after 13 minutes in this Brown Cup tie against Linlithgow.

He collected a neat through-ball outside the penalty area, before advancing to chip the ball expertly over the stranded McGlynn.

Thoughts of an upset were destroyed in a devastating 15 minute spell at the start of the second half.

Straight from kick off, the referee judged Robert Greenaway to have fouled Carrigan in the penalty area.

Carrigan picked himself up and levelled from the spot. He added a second four minutes later when the visitors broke quickly after a Michael Motion shot was blocked, and MacSween set him up again for a simple finish.

Centre half Wilson headed Linlithgow’s third on 58 minutes, diverting Carrigan’s corner over the line despite Hill’s best efforts.

Two minutes later a header at point blank range from McArthur made it 4-1.

Fears of a heavy defeat rose amongst the Hi Hi support, but there were few incidents in the final half hour.
