Dunbar edge seven goal league thriller

Dunbar United 4 v 3 West Calder United, Tranent Juniors 1 v 0 Dunbar United

Last Saturday’s match against West Calder started well for Dunbar, Colin McDonald giving them the lead on five minutes after Mitch Faichney’s shot was blocked.

Dunbar were next to find the net, Robertson putting them two goals in front following good build-up play from Girdwood and McDonald.

Noteworthy incidents were scarce for most of the game, but that was to change dramatically late. On 77 minutes Ryan Grant’s long ball found McDonald lurking in a dangerous position from where he claimed his 16th goal of the season.

A minute later Paton pulled a goal back for West Calder, but Dunbar restored their three goal advantage shortly afterwards when sub John Crawford capitalised on a mistake from Greig.

The visitors were far from finished though, and with four minutes left Paton made the score 4-2. Two minutes into injury time Reid reduced the deficit to one.

There was considerably less entertainment at Tranent on Monday evening when the Seasiders went down to a 76th minute goal.
