Winning run comes to a halt
Dunbar Utd 1 v Musselburgh Athletic 5
DUNBAR had enjoyed a five game unbeaten run going in to this derby match against Musselburgh, managing three consecutive clean sheets in the process.
Manager Jock Landells had to make two changes to the side that had drawn with Harthill Royal, with experienced duo Colin McDonald and Paul Hampshire replacing absentees John Crawford and Brian Martin.
Any hopes Dunbar might extend their impressive defensive run were destroyed with hardly a minute played, as King headed a Burgh opener.
The visitors then went on to dominate the first half and were four goals up at the break, with King bagging a hat-trick and Wes Mitchell heading a fourth before half-time.
McDonald pulled a goal back just after the break from the penalty spot, after Craig McManus was sent off for handball.
Clawing back a three goal deficit, even against 10 men, is a tall order at the best of times, and Dunbar found Musselburgh far too good to allow that to happen.
With 13 minutes to go, MacLean blocked a King shot, but couldn’t keep out Currie’s header from the resultant corner.
