Logan's at the double

LONGNIDDRY schoolboy Logan Wilson won the Boys Singles, and the boys doubles with partner James Chapman, at the Mid and East Primary Schools Badminton Championships held at Meadowmill Sports Centre.

In the singles Logan had a closely fought match against Sam Chater (Longniddry) winning the final 21-14.

Logan competed in his second final of the day with James Chapman, where they took on surprise finalists from Law Primary, Gregor Gray and Finlay Carr. Gray and Carr fought their way through the earlier rounds beating the number two seeds comfortably in the semi-finals before just losing out 21-15 in the final.

In the Girls singles Clara Young (Law) dominated the tournament winning the final 21-14 against nine-year-old Longniddry pupil Shona Whillans.

Whillans reached her second final of the day with partner Emma Caughey in an all Longniddry final losing 21-14 to twin sisters Charlotte and Sarah Robertson.

Knox Academy pupils Hannah Laing and Megan Richardson both assisted with the organisation of the tournament.

The Final results were: Girls’ Singles – Clara Young (Law) bt. Shona Whillans (Longniddry) 21-14;‘B’ Singles – Sarah Robertson (Longniddry) bt. Emma Caughey (Longniddry) 21-18;‘C’ Singles – Laurie Crawford (Kings Park) bt. Amy Valentine (Dunbar) 21-7.

Boys’ Singles – Logan Wilson (Longniddry) bt. Sam Chater (Longniddry) 21-14;‘B’ Singles – Gary Brownlee (Law) bt. Kieran Floyd (Law) 21-18;‘C’ Singles – Neil Bowden (Law) bt. Reece Wishart (Longniddry) 21-15;‘D’ Singles – Jonathan Algeo (K. Meadow) bt. Mathew Douglas (Longniddry) 21-16.

Girls’ Doubles – Sarah Robertson & Charlotte Robertson (Longniddry) bt.Shona Whillans & Emma Caughey (Longniddry) 21-14.

Boys’ Doubles – Logan Wilson & James Chapman (Longniddry) bt.Gregor Gray & Finlay Carr (Law) 21-15;‘B’ Boys Doubles – Reece Wishart & Jamie Campbell (Longniddry) bt.Hamish Wilson & Harris Thomson (Longniddry) 21/17.
