‘More affordable education’
NEW Loretto headmaster, Peter Hogan, has spelled out his vision for the prestigious school in the coming years.
In a statement, the school head – who took up the post officially on Monday – said he was “committed to making an education at an independent school more affordable for more families”.
He added: “I aim to promote and defend the charitable status of independent schools by allowing families of limited means to benefit from the life-changing opportunities of a good education.”
For nearly a decade Mr Hogan was at the helm of a private Welsh boarding school, Llandovery College.
He is also a writer and broadcaster, appearing regularly on Good Morning Wales and as a guest on various Radio 4 programmes.
His appointment follows the retirement of former headteacher, Michael Mavor.
“Loretto has a noble, historic past and I am sure we are going to have an exciting future,” said the new headteacher.
