New school move is music to their ears
STAFF at Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School are striving to ensure pupils’ learning is not disrupted by the delay in transferring to their new £10 million school building.
Although classes resumed on Monday, pupils will have to wait until September 1 before moving into the new building, also in Sanderson’s Wynd.
Prior to the summer holidays, teachers outlined a ‘transition programme’ featuring workshops and activities to occupy pupils in the run-up to the move.
On Wednesday, pupils enjoyed a visit from members of Christianity-based music programme Fischy Music. Workshops with the Red Flame Dance Company and a trip to Meadowmill Sports Centre are also planned.
A school spokeswoman said: “The new school is looking fantastic and we’re all very excited about the move.”
The school will close next Thursday and Friday to allow teachers and removal staff to transfer equipment and classroom materials to the new school.
Pupils and teachers will mark the official move with a morning parade, from the old building to the new school.
