Hibee heaven for Lindsay
A FAMILY day out at Easter Road stadium turned into a dream come true for Tranent schoolgirl Lindsay Hart, when she was chosen to be Hibernian FC’s team mascot for the day.
Although her team was defeated – by Middlesbrough FC – on August 2, nine-year-old Lindsay, of Kennedy Crescent, was walking on air when she got the chance to meet some of her football heroes during the pre-season friendly match.
The Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School pupil rubbed shoulders with club manager Mixu Paatelainen, Middlesborough FC manager Gareth Southgate and team captain Rob Jones when she enjoyed a tour behind the scenes at the club, and ventured onto the pitch to toss the coin before kick-off.
Keen footballer Lindsay won the honour after entering a free draw organised by the club’s Hibs Kids group, and was accompanied on the day by her twin brother James.
Mum Yvonne, who is also an avid Hibs supporter, told the Courier: “Our family and Hibs football club go way back as my uncle was Tom Hart (chairman of the club in the late 1970s).
“Lindsay was absolutely delighted to be chosen as mascot and James was really chuffed that he was able to accompany his sister – they both had a great time.”
