A CHEQUE for £450 was presented to the Gurkha Welfare Trust on Saturday, after Prestonpans grandmother of three, Mary Yorkston, raised the money through a challenge set by the Trefoil Guild.
The retired legal secretary, who lives in South Grange Avenue wanted to help boost the trust fund which helps surviving wartime Ghurkas and their widows who don’t receive a pension and live in near poverty.
It will be added to the proceeds of the annual Ghurka Highlander Walk, from Kyle of Lochalsh to Stonehaven, which began on Monday.
