Road is ‘dangerous’
A RISING toll of accidents on Fishers Road, Port Seton, has led to calls for a cut in the speed limit.
The community council, which has made the plea, has also suggested a one-way system as an alternative.
The narrow, winding route currently has a speed limit of 60mph.
Community council chairman, Gordon Campbell, commented on the lack of markings on the road and said that there were no signs indicating traffic priority.
There was also a problem with the narrow bridge at the top of the road which only had room for one vehicle.
Secretary and treasurer of the community council, Ina Bell, said she was writing to East Lothian Council outlining members’ concerns and proposals.
She said; “It is a very narrow road and only local people really use it, but it is still dangerous and we have to do something to stop accidents from happening.”
