Jamie’s running total
COUNTY ironman Jamie Bruce has raised more than £650 for Law Primary School PTA by completing the recent Edinburgh Marathon.
The 45-year-old fitness instructor, who works at North Berwick Sports Centre and the Mercat Gait Centre in Prestonpans, crossed the finishing line in three hours, 59 minutes.
Although this was some way outside his personal best of two hours, 58 minutes, for the classic 26.2-mile distance, Jamie pointed out that that was achieved 20 years ago, before he switched his focus to endurance events.
“I was pleased to get round okay and am delighted to have raised so much money for Law Primary PTA,” he said. “I would like to thank everyone in North Berwick who donated or sponsored me.”
Last year, Jamie, of Dobson’s Walk, Haddington, raised £600 for Cancer Research by running 140 miles across the Gobi Desert in Mongolia.
He has, however, cancelled plans to set a new time record for the fastest run along Hadrian’s Wall, following an injury to his training partner.
The record for the 85-mile course is currently held by John Watt of Gifford at 19.5 hours.
