Battling for title of village of the year
TWO East Lothian villages are in the running for the title of Scottish Calor Village of the Year 2008.
Stenton and East Linton have both been entered in the national contest, which offers a £3,000 cash prize to the winner.
Community members completed an entry form, outlining the best features of their respective villages, to take part.
The next stage of the competition will see judges announce a shortlist of around 12 finalists next week, based on the quality of each village’s entry forms.
The winner will go on to compete against the winning villages from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Scottish competition – which is supported by the Association of Scottish Community Councils – is open to all groups, such as community associations and community councils, in rural villages which have a population of less than 5,000.
