Memorial tribute to world champions Jock
TORRENTIAL downpours couldn’t deter 100 hardy bikers from taking part in the third annual tribute ride to Pencaitland-born world sidecar champion Jock Taylor on Saturday.
Despite the dismal weather, crowds of people lined the streets in Pencaitland to cheer the dozens of bikers who set off on the afternoon ride.
“The weather played a big part – it was just the die-hard bikers who turned up!” said organiser – and Jock’s niece – Yvonne Schmitt.
“But it was still brilliant to see so many people who didn’t let the weather stop them.”
The event is expected to have raised around £600, to be shared between the National Association for Bikers with a Disability and the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland.
And Yvonne gave “ a heartfelt thanks” to all who took part, adding :“We’re looking forward to doing the same again next year!” Bikeride 8804
