FESTIVAL fever is spreading in North Berwick, with organisers of Fringe by the Sea reporting a run on ticket sales ahead of the four-day music festival from August 13-16.

Various top acts will descend on the town for a mini version of Edinburgh’s world-famous arts and culture extravaganza.

The festival opens in unique style with a free concert by the 10-piece Orkestra de Sol on board the 1.37pm Edinburgh Waverley to North Berwick service on Wednesday, August 13.

It will showcase the best in jazz, world, folk and contemporary acoustic music.

A children’s entertainer and a stand-up comedy show also feature.

Volunteers were this week due to start distributing several thousand promotional leaflets to county shops, hotels, libraries and community centres.

Fringe by the Sea director, Eric Wales, of Tantallon Road, said: “The response so far to our mini version of the Edinburgh Fringe has been very encouraging.

“Advance ticket sales are going well and it’s likely there will be some sell-outs.”

Tickets are available on the reservation line 07500 772 720 and from Greens & Blues at 59 High Street, North Berwick.
