HOLY TRINITY Episcopal Church is seeking a new rector after Father Paul Keown resigned to take up a new post with the Church of England in Surrey.

Fr Keown and his wife Carolyn, who have three sons aged 18-22, will head south next month.

They arrived in Haddington just 14 months ago when Fr Keown transferred from a posting in Wales.

He said: 'There is no specific reason for me leaving.

'We"ve made some good friends here in Haddington and really enjoyed our time at Holy Trinity.

'I just feel its time to move on.'

Fr Keown, who stays in the rectory on Church Street, will take his last service at Holy Trinity – The Feast of Transfiguration – on August 6.

On Wednesday (July 30), he will give a farewell service at Haddington Day Centre, where he has been a regular visitor over the last year.

Centre manager Caroline Scott said: 'Father Paul is a very popular visitor. He conducts regular services here and he will be missed.

'The staff and clients all wish him well.'

Canadian-born, the Rev Bob Gould has been appointed as interim rector at Holy Trinity.

Mr Gould, who has lived in Scotland since 1959, is a former lecturer in chemistry at Edinburgh University. He has previously been an interim pastor at various churches, most recently at world-famous Roslin Chapel, Midlothian.
