The Gannet has Landed

Printer Print Article

AWARD-WINNING Haddington author Peter Kerr has taken the Isle of Arran as the inspiration for his new novel The Gannet Has Landed.

Published by Accent Press, it follows student vet Doogie O’Mara as he applies for his dream gap-year job studying wildlife in Africa.

But a recruitment mix-up sees him leaving his home on Arran to end up in the middle of package holiday madness – in Mallorca.

The Gannet Has Landed is Peter’s fifth fiction novel. Other titles include Bob Burns Investigates The Cruise Connection and Bob Burns Investigates The Mallorcan Connection.

Peter’s long love affair with Mallorca stretches back to the eighties when he sold up his farm in Scotland and moved his family to the island to run an old orange farm.

His adventures inspired the Snowball Oranges series of five best-selling novels and have gone on to shape his more recent work. Mallorca’s most famous part-time resident, Hollywood star Michael Douglas, is among his fans.

Peter Kerr will be launching his new book with a signing session at Kesley’s Bookshop, Market Street.
