Easy pickings for thieves

Printer Print Article

POLICE are urging North Berwick drivers to make sure their cars and garages are well secured, following a series of thefts in the town.

On one night alone, three streets were targeted and unlocked cars and garages were entered and raided.

A police spokesperson said: “On this occasion the owners of these cars and garages have really made it easy for these particular roaming thieves.

“There is every chance that these crimes are linked and that a gang or group are responsible for them.”

In McNair Avenue, a Mitsubishi Grandis and a Ford Mondeo were entered. A wallet containing credit cards, two digital cameras, a satellite navigation system, laptop computer and a digital camera were stolen.

Two cars were entered in Marley Green and cash and a memory stick were removed from a Jeep. A chain saw was taken from a garage but was later found abandoned nearby.

A £300 petrol powered remote controlled car was taken from a garage in The Paddock. It is described as a red beach buggy model RC-2.

Police urge anyone with information to phone on 01620 893585.
