Printer Print Article

AN ELDERLY Tranent motorist took unwell at the wheel – triggering a three-car crash.

A 75-year-old man lost control of his Honda Accord after becoming unwell while driving east on the A199, west of Tranent, at 1.45pm last Wednesday.

The car veered across the carriageway and, say police, crashed into two oncoming cars – a Honda Accord and a Peugeot 406.

The Tranent pensioner, and his passenger wife, aged 78, were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda, a 40-year-old Tranent man, and the Peugeot driver, a 71-year-old man from Musselburgh, were uninjured.

The road was closed to traffic for an hour while wreckage was cleared.
