Hibs FC boss Mixu shows all his class
SCHOOL pupils at Yester Primary School showed off their class project on Finland to two of the country’s great sporting exports.
Hibernian FC manager Mixu Paatelainen and speedway racer Tero Aarnio – who represented his country in the Speedway World Cup last year and rides for Berwick Bandits – visited the Gifford school last Wednesday to view the results of the P5 class ‘Healthy Passport’ project, which involved pupils spending a year exchanging ideas – on the subjects of health and sports – with Finnish schoolchildren.
The duo were shown the internet blogs and personal project books that the class had developed after setting up an online link with a school in Kuvansi.
Andrew Borthwick, of the British Council, was also at the school with the Finnish sports personalities.
An impressed Mixu Paatelainen said: “It’s been absolutely wonderful to realise how much effort the children have put in to this project. It’s been well organised, with plenty of facts and great information, and it’s great to see pupils here in Scotland learning about what is happening in Finland.”
