Injured in house fire
A MAN was taken to hospital after fire tore through a kitchen in Wallyford on Saturday.
Firefighters from Musselburgh and Newcraighall were called out at 9.50pm and spent more than an hour tackling the blaze at St Clements Wells Farm Cottages.
They wore breathing kits and used a hose jet.
The occupant, a 35-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment for smoke inhalation.
East Lothian fire chief Robert Taylor told the Courier: “He was outside the property when crews arrived and was conscious when he was taken to hospital.”
It is understood that substantial damage was caused to the kitchen, and smoke damage throughout the rest of the property.
A investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
