TRANENT’s PG McIntyres has reopened under a new name, with a husband and wife team now managing the High Street pub.

The new licensees, Robert and Wilma Law – who have also redecorated since moving into the property two weeks ago – renamed the pub ‘Ryans’.

A spokeswoman for the landlord, Punch Taverns, said: “Robert and Wilma have worked extremely hard since moving into the pub, which had an extremely successful opening weekend.

“We are very excited about working with them to build a very successful business.”

The former co-licensees were Tranent sisters, Frances Lugton and Mary Miller.

They were evicted from the pub on April 4, following a legal dispute with Punch Taverns.

During their two-year stint as licensees, the sisters faced an investigation by East Lothian Council’s environmental health department which had received repeated complaints with regard to the rising noise levels at the pub.
