VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help expand the range of social activities at a Haddington sheltered housing complex.

Bield Housing Association, which wants to broaden the horizons of elderly people living at The Butts, already runs quiz sessions, a knitting group and musical bingo. Its Social Activity Project also has weekly coffee mornings and a lunch club.

Local manager, Barbara Hope, said: “The lunch club and coffee mornings are a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved.

“Many of our tenants would love to have more people from the community to talk with, over lunch or a cup of tea.

“Our volunteers always do a wonderful job and make such a difference to the lives of our tenants.”

The Association is currently looking for volunteers who have a couple of hours spare in the afternoons, either weekly or fortnightly; people who would enjoy working with older people and who are looking for a rewarding experience.

Enquiries are welcome from people of all ages over 16.

Full training and support will be given and expenses paid.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Social Activity Project at The Butts can call Barbara Hope on 01620 825178.
