Significance of battle under discussion
THE Battle of Prestonpans Heritage Trust is holding a conference later this year that will discuss the significance of the September 21, 1745 conflict.
Various colourful events, that will end in a spectacular re-enactment, are also planned.
The September 18 and 19 conference will hear how battlefield archaeological studies are conducted, and will explore exciting future plans to better promote Bonnie Prince Charlie’s famous victory.
Initial sketches of the inside of the planned multi-million pound battle visitor centre will be unveiled and, during the week, a nationwide architectural competition will be launched.
There also will be a presentation of the Battle of Pots and Pans play on September 18 and, the next day, Prestonpans is due to be occupied by Hanoverian Redcoats before the battle re-enactments, scheduled for Saturday, September 20, take place.
