THE icing on the cake for members of Knox Academy’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF), celebrating its centenary on Saturday at a civic reception in the Town House.

The reception, hosted by East Lothian Provost, Sheena Richardson, a former Knox teacher, was a significant milestone for what is the only state school cadet force in the whole of Scotland.

Members and officers from the 24-strong contingent attended, along with uests from the local Haddington community, the armed services and the school. Prior to the evening reception, members of the public were able to visit the Town House to view a centenary exhibition of old photographs and other items relating to the group’s activities over the decades.

Members of the current CCF were also there to welcome visitors and talk about their work.
