Take a peek at the neighbour's £105m home
MUSSELBURGH residents are being invited next weekend to sneak a peek at their neighbour’s house – Scotland’s newest university, Queen Margaret University (QMU).
The new £105 million Craighall campus is throwing open its doors to local householders to explore the architecture and facilities at its first ever community open day.
The event, specifically arranged for neighbouring residents, will offer a morning of fun-filled activities, and a chance to tour the award-winning campus.
The university is also promoting the environmental aspects of its green sustainable campus and is offering the opportunity to talk to staff and students, take part in workshops, watch student-made films and discover more about the university’s local community initiatives.
A treasure hunt, face-painting and a bouncy castle will be on hand to keep children entertained.
Vice principal, Rosalyn Marshall, said: “It’s important to Queen Margaret University that we are part of the local community.
“This is therefore a great opportunity for people to come and experience our new campus for themselves and to find out more about what we offer and how we can interact with them.
“At the same time it gives staff and students the chance to meet and talk with people from the surrounding area.”
The community open day takes place on Saturday, March 8, and runs from 10am-1.30pm.
l QMU is set to become the first UK university to establish a site in Singapore. ‘QMU Asia Campus’ is a joint venture marrying the Musselburgh-based university with the East Asia Institute of Management (EASB) – one of Singapore’s premier private higher education organisations.
