IT’S going to be a case of steadying the ship for Preston Lodge RFC as they look forward to the new season.

President George Patterson confirmed that not much had changed since the end of last season and that the club’s main aim was promotion to the Premier Three division after finishing second in National League Division One last year.

He said: “The club has no players coming in and has only lost one player in our Centre, Elgin O’Donnell.”

The coaching staff will also stay the same with Haddington dentist Bobby Watters as head coach with John Stewart as his assistant.

“I am confident that we have the right coaching team in place so it’s up to the players to improve on their performance last year and get us promotion this time,” added Patterson.

The club has sold its clubhouse in the close season and will move into a new one in time for the new season.

Patterson believes that this move will relieve the financial pressures on the club saying: “The fact that the council owns the new clubhouse means that we won’t have the costs that we have had in previous years. This should help the club financially in the long term.”

The club will kick off their campaign at home to Edinburgh University in National League Division One on Satrurday, August 26.
