COWNIE Mary (Dunbar) The family of Mary Cownie wish to thank everyone for the love and compassion shown to them, in so many beautiful cards, letters and floral tributes, as their beloved Mum and Granny passed away, at peace in the arms of her Saviour. With grateful thanks to the Reverend Gordon Stevenson for his deeply moving and comforting service and the outpouring of support from all those who attended Houndwood Crematorium, making a difficult day more bearable and reminding us of the deep love that Mary gave and received from her family and so many friends. With grateful thanks to the Doctors, District Nurses and staff at Dunbar Medical Centre for their unstinting care given to Mary throughout a long period of ill health. Sincere thanks to Mr Coventry and the staff at Aitkens Chemist for their help so willingly given. A special thank you to Ann Thomson and the East Lothian team of Carers for playing a pivotal role in enabling Mary to remain at home. Beyond the practical support, your kindness and devoted care for her will always live in our memory. With huge gratitude to John Bald Funeral Directors, Ian Torrance and Gary Tait, for their invaluable support, dignity and empathy. We would also like to express how much we appreciated all that Helena did at the West Barns Bowling Club, to ensure a wonderful and fitting goodbye to a wonderful lady. Finally our thanks to all those who generously made a contribution at Houndwood raising just over £550, and also to those who have donated online in Mary's memory to the Salvation Army, which was so close to her heart and gave her so much joy during her life. Mary was loved with a love beyond all telling - and will be missed with a grief beyond all tears.
